July is officially Open Mic Mania for us!
Maybe Tuesday competed at the West Coast Songwriters Open Mic Play Off last night, Tuesday 7/19/2011, at the Blue Rock Shoot, downtown Saratoga, CA. Each month at this event 2 awards are given: "Best Song" and "Best Performance". Last night's event was a competition that featured all of the previous month's "Best Song" winners! Winner of last night's event gets a chance to perform and compete at the Open Mic Championship Round at Berkeley's Freight and Salvage in August. Winner of THAT event gets the disinction of being able to perform a mini-set at The West Coast Songwriter's Annual Conference's Sunset Concert in September; a concert that will be viewed by a veritable who's-who of the music biz! Needless to say, last night's performance was a great opportunity for Maybe Tuesday to take a step forward in gaining exposure toward a much larger audience! And, while Maybe Tuesday actually didn't take home "Best Song", Maybe Tuesday's very own Iari Melchor was honored with that distinction for his own original tune, "Falling Forward". We wish Iari nothing but the best as he moves forward to the Championship Round at the Freight and Salvage next month!
Yet, the fun isn't over for Maybe Tuesday! We have another shot at taking home a "Best Song" award this upcoming Tuesday, 7/26/2011, in San Francisco's Cafe Royale! We invite everyone to come on out and support us as we perform an original song penned by Iari Melchor, "Brave". It's an all-ages event that is absolutely FREE to the public!
Lastly, we are finalizing our orders for new Merch! Stay tuned for new band T-shirts, stickers, and other lil' goodies that will be available to you at upcoming shows!
Love,
Maybe Tuesday: Amanda Kay, Iari, Ken, and Kit
